She was his best friend, his first love. And she broke his heart. Now she’s back. Will they find a second chance?
As a little girl, Andrea Harmon wanted to marry a prince, and Kyle Davenport hoped it would be him. But he never told her how he felt, and lost her as a result. Because sometimes the bad guy gets the girl. And Kyle left town to get over her.
Andi made the wrong choice years ago, choosing the bad boy over the best friend she trusted and she paid for it every day since.
Coming face to face with his former best friend was bound to happen once he moved back to Rosewood Bay, but for Kyle, becoming her son’s new teacher is a painful reminder of what they never had. But this time around, Kyle is determined to change their ending. Prince Charming is determined to break down her walls.
Except that no happily-ever-after is won without a fight—and her ex-husband doesn’t like to lose.

Dream by Carly Phillips is the fourth book in the Rosewood Bay series. It is Andi Harmon’s story. Andi and her son Nicky are ancillary characters in the previous three books. Because I know a little of their backstory, I came to Dream wanting to know more.
Andi is a single, independent mom. She left a physically and emotionally abusive marriage. Her brother, Kane, helps with Nicky whenever he can. They want to make sure that Nicky has a positive male influence in his life.
Kyle Davenport is back in Rosewood working as a teacher. He is Andi’s childhood friend and her first love. One of his students is Nicky. Andi is forced to interact with him regularly. He is angry with Andi because of past events. Gradually they learn how to work on Nicky’s problems at school together.
Dream answers most of the questions about Andi’s past. Billy, the ex, comes back to town also. Kyle and Billy are the exact opposites depicting the good and evil. Kyle slowly exposes Andi to a life she deserves; something stable and loving and he intends to give it to her. They made too many mistakes in their youth, and he isn’t going to let it happen again.
The characters from the other three books make an appearance with updates on their life. These characters also offer support when Andi needs it. I like this series. The family has a close relationship which comes in play when Andi worries about her ex and threats he makes. They also support her as the relationship with Kyle grows. I love all the original characters of the series.
I recommend the Rosewood Bay series. Each book is a standalone novel with interconnected characters. Dream is in the alternating points of view of Andi and Kyle. There is a little angst, but it isn’t overwhelming. The book is well written and moves at a decent pace.
As an aside, Carly does an excellent job developing strong women faced with real-life situations that can bring a lesser woman down. Each heroine in the series has a unique character with a different burden to work through. Like all Phillips books, I enjoy reading this series. I’m not sure if there are any more books planned, but I would like a book that deals with Andi and Kane’s father. He is still in turmoil and needs to get his addiction under control.
